How long for an Amber Ale to Start Clear

I know this is early in the process, but when should the beer start clearing?
My first beer was a Hefeweizen so clearing wasn't an issue. I'm not sure what to expect with a beer that should clear.
 
It depends. It depends on so many things, though. One is yeast strain. A beer with s04 will drop clear fast, while a beer with s05 might never completely clear.

But in addtion, recipe matters also. A beer with some wheat malt may have a protein haze, for example.

Also, technique matters. A beer that never got a good hot break or cold break may never clear or may clear very slowly.

In short, it depends! It really depends on what the haze is caused by.
 
Sounds complicated.
My recipe was:
7.5lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) UK
1lb Crystal Malt 80L
1lb Munich Malt
.5lb Cara-Pils/Dextrine
Yeast: English Ale S-04
Hops: .75 oz Centennial 50 min
.90 oz Cascade 5 min.
1.3 oz Cascade 0 min.
Chilled in about 12 minutes with a dual coil wort chiller.
Had a good hot break that lasted only a couple of minutes.
I didn't notice any cold break, although I'm not sure what I'm looking for with the cold break. No trub left after boil. Hops were in socks.

Cleararity has some to do with serving temperature too. Colder temps will precipitate proteins togeter so you can see them. Keep it that cold and over time they will fall out.
