So I have this WLP500 cake ready to go and I just couldn't make up my mind weather or not to do a Strong Dark or a Belgian Pale. It was the perfect opportunity to do the Strong Dark, but the past 3 beers I've brewed have all been >7%, so I'm running out of sessionable material.

When I asked the guys in my club, they said I should parti-gyle both of them, as I should have plenty of yeast for both batches if split accordingly.

I am using the 60%/40% mentality here for my initial calculations (e.g., 60% of gravity comes through in the first runnings).

Did you ever brew this? I just heard about Parti-gyle, and have been looking around for recipes.

Is the last two grain bills kind of for reference only, or were you planning on throwing that into the mash as well? (I'm betting the former rather than the latter).

It looks good. You can also make changes on-the-fly with BeerSmith such as adjusting volume and gravity between batches. If it were me and i had lots of >7% brew i would make 3 gallons Strong Dark and 7 gallons Belgian Pale. Just me though.
