Screwed the pooch on BIAB efficiency

this doesnt even look right...

I am doing a BIAB Kolsch as a partial boil. This was the plan as I saw it through the Recipator.

Bitterness: 25 IBU
OG: 1.048 FG: 1.008
Alcohol: 5.1% v/v (4.0% w/w)
Grain: 8 lb. German Pilsner
1 lb. Wheat malt
Mash: 70% efficiency
Boil: minutes SG 1.060 4 gallons
Hops: 1 oz. Perle (8% AA, 60 min.)

This plan calls for a pre-boil gravity of 1.060, boiled down from 4 to 3 gallons and topped off with 2 gallons of cold water.

I actually ended up collecting 4.5 gallons to kettle and my pre-boil gravity ended up being 1.070.

Am I crazy? Or did I just step-mash BIAB a 90% efficiency wort?

not likely 90%. either a misread on the hydro or a not-calibrated hydro. what temp did you mash at?

Hit 125 and held it for 30 minutes, then raised to maybe 140 and held it for 30, then got it up to 150 and held it for an hour. Probably fell to 147 over the course of the hour.

After the fact the readings seem more on par. I hit 6 gallons of 1.040.
