i'm going to be running propane and have the valve set in for each burner but should i go with ball valves or the knob style screw in type?

i'm looking for a large degree of control and some lifespan out of the valves

any suggestions?

IMO, the ball valves would not provide the degree of precision you want. They are not at all linear and they are much to sensitive with only 1/4 turn to open or close. A needle valve of some type would probably be a better choice. You want a "flow control gas valve" and not simply and on/off valve.
