Without some Black Patent (1-2 oz) or Roasted Barley (4-6 oz), you've got a nice robust porter going, but it will lack the coffee & charcoal bite that a stout normally has.

Thanks guys this is why I'm asking still pretty new to the AG. I will readjust the recipe thanks. How much of the BP and how much of the RB should I use?

Thanks-

Black patent vs roasted barley is the difference between a porter and a stout, although in something like this a little black patent will help you get some color without getting too much roasty flavor.

OK here you go how does this look?

Black malt gives a very pronoced flavor( I prefer RB in a Stout), so I would cut that back to .25lbs and enjoy what should be a very good beer. I would also lose the 10 minute aroma addition, not really needed for a sweet stout IMO.

You will get a good amount of roasty flavors from the choco malt, so I think you can color it up with black patent or roast barley or neither or both as dark as you want it depending on how roasty you want it to be. I think if you get the color dark enough with any of the dark/roast malts, you will get the flavors you want in a stout.

Im looking for the roast but definatley want it sweet so I'll give it a go and post the actual recipe when I make it. Thanks for all your help.
