i'm doing an oatmeal stout mini mash from a kit today that includes 4 lbs of grain and adjuncts. I need to mash in at 153, how much water should I use and what temperature does it need to be? thanks

I did this batch last night and I put in 3 gal. of water for the oatmeal and grain steeping. I should have used 2 bags for the oatmeal but no turning back now and I will see how it went in a few days. :mug:

Your strike temp should be 163 deg F assuming 1.33qt/lb ratio and a thermal mass of 0 (you'll need to preheat your MLT).

You should only need to sparge with 2 gallons also around 162 deg F.
