How many of you use something like a Johnson controller on your keezer? I have one on my fermentation chamber, but I don't know if it's really necessary for the freezer. Is it?

On another note, I'd like to have a digital thermometer readout on my collar. Which one do you recommend?

Thanks!

Well, unless you are going to mod the thermometer, you are going to have to do some sort of external control. The factory thermostat won't go above freezing.

If I wanted to keep the beer at 30 deg, would it freeze? What's a good serving temp for standard ales (red, ipa, ambers) and porters? This is all new to me, but I've seen places serve some of these at 30 degrees and it wasn't frozen. I'm not sure what type of setup they had, so I'm not sure if a standard keezer would be able to keep it from freezing.
