I heard the fermenter in my chest freezer (64degrees) going nuts, so I opened to take a look to see the action. When I opened it, I was slammed by the trapped gas coming from the blow off tube. I almost blacked out and my nostrils burned like hell. Should I burp the chest freezer or just never open it.

That's awesome. I learned this lesson my first fermentation in my chest freezer. I'd had a few beers and dunked my head right in there to take a big whiff of fermenting beer. What I got instead was a nostril burning, tear jerking, light headed puff of gas.
