Below is my own american IPA recipe taken from similar ones, but using CTZ and simcoe hops, wow what a yummy IPA this makes... You may want to up the grain bill a bit, I set for 80% efficiency due to my setup working near there every time, if you get less, adjust accordingly. I've done this beer now about 3 or 4 times, and everyone raves about it (Including me! :)

Enjoy, let me know what you think

Recipe Notes

Oh one note, I just double pitch the safale dry yeast, since its a higher grav beer, two packets do the job right, but if you're used to starters, go ahead, and starter... away :)

I have gotten quite a few friends tell me this was great, but we ran out of simcoe around here, so for a substitute, I've used cascade and have another batch right now that's really yummy too, just plug in the AA of your cascade and adjust accordingly. I really love this IPA.

Ok, I'll bite...So you are only using 2 oz of hops for 7%+ ABV IPA? I've never FWH before but I can't imagine that 1oz of FWH would lend enough flavor/aroma for an IPA...I could be wrong...

Any dry hopping?

I don't dry hop, and yes I've been FWH, and realize those hops have 13-15% AA which is 3x what more common ones of 5% ish have.. so thats like 6 oz of some more common varieties. I don't go for the hardcore nose bouquet, in this brew, just a very hoppy wonderfully citrusy IPA. You barely notice the 7% alcohol and the hops flavor is wonderful. I'm debating going away from FWH because of the debate on whether or not it adds the AA most people mention, that or just putting a very small amount FWH, so that it gives it the aroma that I do love, and such, but put the bulk in boil and late addition hops.
