So, I am doing my first lager. Yay.

Here's the problem. I am all out of carboys. Everything is full and I need a carboy. My lager has been sitting in the secondary for about three weeks now but still needs another 6 weeks or so. I am thinking about racking it into an empty sanitized keg and letting it sit in that, which isn't a big deal since lots of people use kegs as secondary fermentors.

My question: Is it a good idea/bad idea/doesn't make a difference if I apply carbonation to the keg and start the process of set it and forget it carbonation at this point? Anyone here do that?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Dean
