Hi all,

New to all grain brewing (trying to assemble equip first). My local micro brewery has a couple of 50L kegs (they aren't willing to part with any of the 60L ones) for cheap.

50L = 13.21 gallons or there abouts. This is too small to use as a brew kettle for 10 gallon batches no?

How about for use as a Lauter/Mash Tun or HLT?

thanks for any advice people!

You should be fine as long as you keep an eye on it as it comes to a boil.

IMHO, I would buy those kegs for HLT and MT. Keep looking for a 1/2 barrel keg (15.5 gal) for your boil kettle. You will be glad you did in the long run.

I use a 15 gal kettle for 5.5 gal batches and I think it is perfect. Never had a boilover and probably never would. It can boil like crazy in that beeotch!
