Here is my recipe for an extract brew I want to make....No idea if this will be good. Any suggestions welcome!

8# Extra Light DME
1# 40L Crystal Malt
.5oz Simcoe Hops 12.9AA
1.5oz Zeus Hops 16.4AA
2oz Amarillo Hops 9.3AA
2 oz Cascade Hops 7.2AA
WLP 001 Yeast

Steep Crystal Malt @ 155 deg for 35 min. Pull out grain bag.

Immediately steep 1oz cascade while bringing to boil

At boil remove steeped hops.

Add 4# DME, 1 oz Zeus and .5 Simcoe (60 min)

Add .5 Amarillo (45 min)
Add .5 Amarillo (30 min)
Add .5 Amarillo (15 min)
Add 4# DME (7 min)
Add .5 Amarillo (Flame Out)

Dryhop with 1 oz Cascade, .5 Zeus (10 days)

Going for super hoppy...Is it too much? :rockin:

I'd say your going for super hoppy, about 102 IBU's, Your SG sound to be about 1.071
Your bitterness ratio is about 1.440 IBU/SG
IF you like hoppy brew it, but a bit too hoppy for me.

Assuming full-wort boil:
Code:
Style: 14C-India Pale Ale(IPA)-Imperial IPA

Wort Volume Before Boil: 6.50 US gals
Wort Volume After Boil: 5.80 US gals
Volume At Pitching: 5.40 US gals
Final Batch Volume: 5.10 US gals
Expected OG: [COLOR="DarkRed"]1.065 SG[/COLOR]
Expected FG: 1.015 SG
Expected ABV: 6.7 %
Expected IBU (using Rager): [COLOR="DarkRed"]166.7[/COLOR]
Expected Color: 7.7 SRM

Fermentables
US Caramel 40L Malt 1lb 0oz (9.1 %) In Mash/Steeped
Extract - Light Dried Malt Extract 4lb 0oz (36.4 %) Start Of Boil
Extract - Light Dried Malt Extract 4lb 0oz (36.4 %) End Of Boil

Hops
US Cascade (7.3 % alpha) 1.00 oz Loose Pellet Hops used First Wort Hopped
US Columbus(Tomahawk) (16.4 % alpha) 1.00 oz Loose Pellet Hops used 60 Min From End
US Simcoe (12.9 % alpha) 0.50 oz Loose Pellet Hops used 60 Min From End
US Amarillo (9.3 % alpha) 0.50 oz Loose Pellet Hops used 45 Min From End
US Amarillo (9.3 % alpha) 0.50 oz Loose Pellet Hops used 30 Min From End
US Amarillo (9.3 % alpha) 0.50 oz Loose Pellet Hops used 15 Min From End
US Amarillo (9.3 % alpha) 0.50 oz Loose Pellet Hops used At turn off
US Cascade (7.2 % alpha) 1.00 oz Loose Pellet Hops used Dry-Hopped
US Columbus(Tomahawk) (16.4 % alpha) 0.50 oz Loose Pellet Hops used Dry-Hopped

Yeast: White Labs WLP001-California Ale

I'd probably want less IBUs, more aroma, and higher gravity from simple sugar.:drunk:

EDIT: How about this:

I would leave the steeped hops(FWH, basically) through the boil and move the 30 min to 5 min.

Im thinkin this looks pretty good, sir. Thanks for the recipe. Ill try this. However, i'm using whole hops.

personally I wouldnt dry hop with that much cascade. i would dry hop with some more simcoe and amarillo in addition to the zeus to bring out those flavors a littler more.

I agree, now, as well. Still learning about my hops!
