I am almost ready to transfer a saison to a secondary and then wash the yeast for later. This particular batch was funked with the dregs of two bottles of Orval along with a starter of Wyeast Belgian Saison.

Will the washed yeast retain the Brett characteristics from the dregs and become a blend of sorts?

Are there any reasons why it would not?

I'm doing the same thing. I was supposed to do it yesterday. But didn't get to it. Hopefully this Saturday.

Anyway, my guess is yes.

i'm 99.9% sure some of the brett would make it from the orval. but, hey, you could be on to a nice little yeast combo there. i definitely wouldn't try it on a beer you don't want brett character from, but it might be fun to mess around with.

I also have a batch with just the saison yeast. I am pondering just washing that yeast and funking with new bottle dregs if I want to go that route.:rockin:
