I got a bag of the Japanese hops, Sorachi Ace 14% and want to add it it Beersmith.
I know how to but, I don't know where to get he other information on the hop schedule.
I know the Alpha is 14%
Not sure wher I get the beta
Hops stabilization Index?

and where can I find the general notes on this hops?

Thanks
Don

I looked around and couldn't find it. Tried with "farnesene sorachi ace" and some other oil constituents.

Maybe it also has another name. Like Centennial used to be something like CFJ-90 or something, can't recall exactly. But maybe if you can find if Sorachi Ace had another name the other numbers could be found.

Sorry not much help.

Think I found it finally, though don't know how accurate it is.

Here:

Hops named `Furano No. 18` - Patent PP09511

If you do a "find" for Sorachi Ace, you will see this:

I'm not sure exactly how to read this chart but put in bold what I *think* is Sorachi Ace here. To me, it seems that this was represented as a table before and this has been pulled from that. This is a comparison of these three hops with Sorachi Ace being the third hop. And there are multiple samples tested here to give a range.

And I guess Nycren is Myrcene, as I can't find any such word as Nycren.

Other references list the cohumulone as 23%, though. As here:

Sorachi Ace (21702)

Also saw a lot of references stating that this was no longer being commercially grown. So, for any of us getting this hop (I ahve some on the way), we might not fall too much into love with it as we might not be able to get it in the future.

Thoughts?

I guess I don't want plan on using this hop too long. One of the reports read..

" Reportedly grown for several years at a Sapporo Breweries Hop Farm in China and exported to Japan and other countries. According to recent reports this hop is no longer grown commercially."

I won 8 ozs of Sorachi Ace, and just tried my first one in a big wheat I just made.

Yeah, exactly. Freshops still has it though. You had a chance to see what the flavor is yet?

Flavor and aroma are very lemony. Almost too strong unless used carefully.

Thanks thats what I heard. I went real light and cut my other hops down a little. Only used 1/2 oz for the 60 min boil and 1/2 oz of Tettnang where I would normally use 1 oz.
Not sure what that combination is going to do to this big wheat beer, but you never know until you try.

7# Maris otter
7 # White wheat
also did a 30 min Tettnang 1/2 oz
and a 15 min Saaz 1 oz.

I'll know in a couple of weeks.
