I just filled up my party pig for the first time. It's conditioning in my pantry awaiting space in the fridge. I looked at it this morning and there's a decent amount of trub in the bottom. My question is this:

Is the amount of yeast in the pig large enough to wash?

I washed the yeast cake in the primary, so I'm not desparate for more, but I figured there was an opportunity to get another jar or two of slurry.

You may be able to treat the dregs in the pig the same as you would when culturing from a bottle. As for washing it that might be more work than it's worth.

That yeast is going to be sitting in there a while and won't be very healthy when you come to wash it. It is less than ideal to culture such yeast, and people only do it from bottles to try and get yeast strains not otherwise available.
