Hello everyone, just bought all my kit and the 'coopers lager' mix to brew, I've never done this before but I've heard you can get a better brew using malt as a replacement for sugar.
But I've only bought 500g of it and the cooper instructions say I need 1kg of white sugar, so would it be ok to use half malt and half sugar? Really newbie question I know but thought I'd better check!!

It will be fine. Just keep in mind the more plain sugar you use it will tend to make your beer thinner in mouthfeel and finish drier than using malt extract. Either way your making beer and that's never a bad thing.
Welcome to the addiction!!!!
