So I failed at properly talking the starting Specific Gravity of my cider. I have the specific gravity of the pure cider, but i forgot to talk a reading after I added the sugar. Does anyone know of a formula to estimate how much the sugar i added will affect the SG?

Follow up question is the formula for calculating the ABV % for cider the same as beer: ((SG - FG) * 131) ?

What kind of sugar, and how much did you add, to how much liquid?

The ABV formula is the same.

Since you've got the cider's SG, all you need to do is add the contribution from the sugar. A pound of sucrose will add 9 points to a 5 gallon batch or 45 to a gallon.

Cane sugar is sucrose.

3 pounds in 5 gallons will raise your SG by 27 points.
