Hi, this is my first post here. I've learned a lot reading this board over the last few weeks though. I'm new to homebrewing (have brewed two batches so far) and am really enjoying it! A friend from Oregon mailed me a 3.5 lb bundle of whole nugget hops which he bought from a local farmer. No idea on the AA.

I've brewed one batch with them (a recipe from my LHBS). It is a double IPA that uses 2lbs 2-row, 1lb munich, .5lb crystal 40l, 9lb liquid pale extract, and 7 oz of nugget hops (2 oz being dry hopped). I haven't tried it yet (its had 2 weeks in the primary, 2 in the secondary, and one in the bottles) but I only ended up with 18 22oz bottles...I think I lost a lot of water with the specialty grains.

So, what do I do with all these hops?! I did a search and found some AG recipes, but I'm not ready for AG. Anyone have any good extract or easy partial mash recipes that use a LOT of nugget hops (like...i wouldn't balk at 10oz of hops)?

Thanks, I'll look for that. Just to clarify...I'm interested in any recipe that uses significant amounts of nugget...not just single hop recipes. So if anyone has a recipe (any style) that uses several ounces of nugget in addition to other hops, I'd be interested in that, too.

Freeze the hops in smaller bags, give some away, and otherwise cut it down to manageable sizes. Then you can use them as you need them. I have a great SNPA recipe that uses about an ounce per brew, and I'm sure there are a few other ones out there.

Done, done and done. Its all in the freezer in smaller bags. My LHBS vacuum packed them for me in 3 ~3/4lb bags and I've given away several ounces (have to share :mug:). I'd love to have a look at your recipe.

I really like Nugget with Rye. Here's a Rye IPA I did that's an all Nugget beer. It turned out quite tasty in my opinion.

Just curious but are you asking for beer related ideas?

Thinking outside of the fermenter, but what about a hopped salad dressing. You have enough to try something like that. Vinegar, olive oil, hops, seasonings. May sound weird, but it could be worth a try.

Other idea would be to try and trade for some equipment item you need/want.

Ah....that Rye IPA sounds great. I haven't had a lot of Rye beers but I really like the ones I've had. Think it would come out ok as a PM?

I'm sure it would. Here's how Beersmith converted it to PM:
