So I'm ready to bottle some apfelwien. I am going to carbonate some in beer bottles and put the rest in wine bottles. I bought a hand corker with double levers. What size corks do I need #8 or #9. I plan on making a couple of wine kits in the near future if that makes a difference.

TIA
Storm

#9 is generally preferable, but they are much harder to insert with a hand corker. I bought a floor corker, so I almost always use #9s now.

With a hand corker, #8 would be easiest to insert.

will the #8 corks hold if the bottles are racked on their sides ie... not seep

Thanks
Storm
