Former home fo Haffenreffer Brewery.

Friday night, Arrogant Bastard and pizza at one of the restaurants housed in the former Haffenreffer brewery, in Boston.

The whole building is being rehab'd after many years of neglect. Even the smokestack is being revamped - with neat hollow bricks featuring a curved side, to account for the relatively small chimney diameter near the top.

This section of Boston had a number of breweries in the day: land was cheap and a brook with good water was nearby.
There is a good book depicting the numerous New England breweries and what happened to them, I think I posted about it at some point last year, after reading it. Fun.

I thought the Sam Adams brewery was in the former Haffenreffer brewery?

The disused, half collapsed smokestack even used to say "fenreffer"... didn't notice if it was still there last time I was there... was there in the early 90's.....
