Hello,

I am doing a several month conditioning phase of a high gravity beer in a carboy- but I have 1 gallon of headspace.

Will this much ruin my beer?

Has anyone had a similar situation?

Thanks!

If you keg, just make sure and flush the headspace with CO2 from your tank it's heavier than air and if you just run it into the top of your secondary for a minute or so then place the airlock you should be good!

If you racked to secondary while there was still fairly active fermentation than you should be good. The fermentation would have purged the 02 - if not - you may have some issues.

I agree with the above post. If this is in the primary, or was transferred to secondary within 2ish weeks of fermentation, there should be a good enough film of CO2 protecting your beer.

Otherwise I would suggest purging with your CO2 tank if you have one.
