M fairly new to brewing I just did my first partial mash. My question is how do I control the gravitates of my beers to make them stronger. What would I have to do to get a higher original and and a lower final in my brews. Any help is appreciated thanks.

Replacing some of your grain or extract with sugar (or honey, maple syrup, other mostly-made-of-sugar foodstuffs) will tend to give your beer lower FG than an all-grain brew that started at the same OG. The same is true of mashing at a lower temperature. But, like Pickledout said, this will leave you with a thinner, drier beer -- the same unfermented sugars that give you FG points also give you sweetness and mouthfeel.

Choosing a more attenuative yeast can also help you bring down your FG (e.g., using WLP007 in place of WLP002).
