Hey all I have a question about the heating elements turning black. I did a test run of just water and the element and everything turned out fine. However I noticed that the element turned black. Is that normal? The water that Im using is pretty hard, would that have anything to do with it? Thanks for the help

What kind of element? What is it's rating? 240v or 120v, wattage?? What's it made of?

I don't recall ever hearing of this.

Yeah. Also never heard of this because all the elements I've seen are coated with a black material to begin with. Though not sure why a stainless or copper one would do that.

The rating of the elements are 250V 4500W. I'm not sure what the material is made from. But it was a silver then when I turned on power it slowly started turing black.
