Ok, so before I go ahead and brew this I wanted to check something...

In a Partial Mash recipe for a Pale Ale, does Crystal 40L fit or should I just leave it as American 2-row and Light DME?

I have to agree. Really any crystal around 40-70 lov. But you are missing one other malt, something toasted. Basically a .5-1 lb of Munich, Biscuit, Victory or Special Roast. Something with a lighter toast like Munich you can use a pound. Special roast I would use a half pound.

I went with 1 lb Crystal 60 and 1 lb Vienna on my last PM APA, came out with a good balance - malty sweetness at the beginning and finishes with a hoppy bite.

Here is what my recipe turns out to... any thoughts?
