I read an article in the local paper the other day about how Ben Franklin's 300th b-day is coming up and to celebrate they (some Franklin fan club) have designed a beer that is thought to be similar to what old Ben might have embibed back in the day - based on ingredients then available. Barley, corn, rice, molasses, yeast. No hops though (or very few hops) - hops had to imported from Britain and were too expensive (not to mention unpatriotic at the time.) They had a contest and settled on an "official recipe" but I guess there are breweries all over the country making their own versions. It's called Poor Richard's Ale.

So, anybody tried one? Was it good? Do you know the recipe? Just curious.
