Hi all,

Short time lurker, first time poster. I'm just finishing my first brew (an Irish stout) and am planning on kegging it. However, I would like to bottle some to be able to give them away as well as stash a few to see how they condition over months.

The kit i bought from the LHBS contains bottle sugar but I didn't think I needed it because I was going to keg.

So, long story short, what's the best way to leverage the keg but still bottle some? Could I bottle some before kegging and put sugar in the bottles themselves?

My homebrew club is having a competition for January. I need to take two bottles in for it. Can I just fill two bottles up with my picnic tap and throw a cap on. It would be opened a few hours later so Im not concerned with oxygen. Is there any reason this wouldnt work.
