My last two brews have been done in half boil. I personally cannot attest to their quality becuase one died and the other is aging in the bottle. I know that many prefer the full boil, and I want to step up to it. Here is my question. Is a pot that I have fried turkey in usable? I just got some star san, and is it up to that challenge? Is this risky, or can it be cleaned well enough? Thanks......

Unless the pot is badly scratched and pitted inside, you can easily clean out any residual oil with a bit of mild dishwashing detergent. Use a rag or sponge and GENTLY clean it (especially if it is an aluminum pot -- you don't want to scrub off the darkened oxide layer inside).

I have heard that you should avoid oxi-clean for aluminum kettles. Can anyone confirm that?
