I have always been a beer drinker who likes a variaty of different styles of beer, that is one of the reasons why I wanted to brew my own. My first recipe from scratch (non kit) turned out wonderful. I love porter and black licorice, so I decided to try to make licorice porter. Pretty standard porter recipe
2 lbs dme
4.5 lbs lme
1/2 lb chocolate malt
1/2 lb black malt
1/2 lb crystal caramel
1 oz northern
1 oz goldings
1.5 oz fennel (I didnt have enough fennel so I threw in a few bags of fennel seed tea hehe)
you cant realy taste the licorice but it is very good, chocolaty coffee taste. similar to london porter but not as harsh. I will definately make this recipe again, though I may add another 1/2 oz of hops.
anyways enough rambling.
