WTF? Thought I'd try this recipe on my Brutus. To date, I'd just been using whole hops, never any pellets. Well, changed everything to pellets except the Colombus hops which were whole. And this was the first time I used some Irish moss. Well, I use a plate chiller, and everything was fine until I began running wort through my chiller to sanitize it. A GMOH (GIANT Mass of HOPS) came down the line and plugged my plate chiller. I am not sure how the hops passed my stainless false bottom. Do you think I was boiling to hard (lifting the false bottom and allowing hops down underneath it?) Or are pellitized hops not good with a false bottom and plate chiller combo. Took me over an hour to clean out the plate chiller, and then I had to run everything through a filter until the wort was running clear. PITA, but got the beer is going to be superb. After the runnings were clear, I late hopped with all my santiums on the 5, 3, 1 minute schedule, and then chilled - should be delicious!
