I've been thinking of trying a biab. If I'm too lazy to make a bag, what size would you recommend? I saw that a few shops have both a 24" x 24" and an 18"x 32".

I've also read about using a paint straining bag, but I'm slightly hesitant to go w/ a non food grade material.

thanks!

As per the Aussie article, the bag should be big enough for you to stick your brew pot inside it and still be able to close it. I made mine out of a sheer curtain set from Target, and got 4 bags out of it for $ 9.00.

I use paint strainers all the time, based on the advise on this forum. My mashes never get hotter than 170F so I'm not too worried about the material. If it was boiling, maybe I'd sweat it. Just don't use a paint strainer for the hop bag if you are worried.
