Hi
First time at brewing with a beer lager kit.
can you tell me when to add finnings to my brew,Iam ready to transfer to my barrel so do I put it in the barrel or the fermentor...thanks ..filbs

Finings should be added after fermentation is done. That said, I never use finings, or Irish moss, or any clarifiers. I've found 2-3 weeks in the secondary is enough to clarify the beer remarkably. Of course, I've yet to brew a lager...

But I wouldn't worry about using finings.

I use Polyclar in the secondary after fermentation has ceased, and stir it in gently. Bentonite also works in a sanitized slurry (hot water in a sanitized blender). Add at secondary after fermentation has ceased. Two weeks in the secondary will clarify the beer without using finings, but I am brewing for a wedding and don't want any chill haze in my beer. The beer falls extremely clear in a week, and you can chill it down with no haze.
