I think I'm going to upgrade my kettle, as my 7.5 gal is not currently performing as I'd like... I'm pretty sure I'm going to get aluminum, because if I buy a S/S in the future, I can keep this for my HLT. I'm also pretty sure I'm going to buy it from Instawares.

Many people on here have bought from Instawares before, and so I ask you, if your memory recalls...... What brand was your kettle? Do you like it?

Current kettles under consideration are:
- Atlas 100qt ( http://www.instawares.com/atlas-aluminum-stock-pot.paa-100.0.7.htm )
- Royal 100qt ( http://www.instawares.com/heavy-weight-aluminum-stock.rii-royrspt100h.0.7.htm )
- Atlas 80qt ( http://www.instawares.com/atlas-aluminum-stock-pot.paa-80.0.7.htm )
- Crestware 80qt ( http://www.instawares.com/stock-pot-80-qtin.cws-pot80.0.7.htm )
- Winco 80qt ( http://www.instawares.com/stock-pot-aluminum-80.alst-80.0.7.htm )
- Royal 80qt ( http://www.instawares.com/heavy-weight-aluminum-stock.rii-royrspt80h.0.7.htm )

FWIW Shipping tips heavily towards an 80qt. About $35 to ship pot + lid for 80qt, about $55 for 100qt.
FWIW #2, The Royal 80qt with lid AND shipping is only $120.01 :D

Do you have any of these brands? What are your impressions? Are there other brands you've purchased that are better than anything I listed here?

I bought a 120 qt from instawares last year and have very happy with it so far. Shop around and pick the one that uses the thickest gauge metal.
Cheers...

Ive got this 160qt Update International aluminum pot from instawares. Mine was only $110 w/shipping. I've noticed that within the last couple weeks, all of their prices went up.
Shipping to me in PA is only listed at $16 for the 160qt.
I bought my lid separate. It seemed to me that all of the bigger pots are 24" around, so the lids are also somewhat standard size.
Anyway, I'm satisfied with it. It is 6mm thick, almost 1/4". Durable. I'll also recommend instawares, though I think around the holidays you should plan on delays...

Dayamn, that 160qt is a whole lotta kettle! So I'm inferring that brand is much less important than thickness is. Got it.

Thanks for the feedback dudes.... I'm not too worried about shipping delays... But it sure could be handy for the RIS brew coming up. That's gonna be a thick beer with a long boil. :)

I'm waiting till after Christmas to pull the trigger on a heavy duty 12/15 gallon kettle from Instawares. :) From what I hear just about anythign that's not "standard" thickness will work extremely well. My turkey fryer kettle works well and it's thin - useful but not optimal.

I have a 6mm 10 gallon pot from Instaware. Just be careful if you order on line. Thet won't tell you if it is out of stock. I would call, nice people to deal with. - Dirk
