OK i think i made my first boo boo

So went out to move all my brewing equip from last nights session. it was all cleaned last night but i guess i didnt clean the kettle as well as i thought i did and i found some awesome things growing in there in a few spots so i scrubbed it up again but found that where whatever it was was growing there are now gouges in the pot (aluminum). Do i need to scrap this pot and get a new one or is this one still good to use for brewing?

it's still good, but you'll probably need to build up a new oxide layer. do that by boiling water in it for a few minutes

It's still good. Just get it completely clean, then boil some water in it for an hour or so to re-passivate the aluminum.

EDIT: Mid-air collision with Krazy. Could be a few minutes is enough to build a new oxide layer - I was just using an hour to make sure.

No, only if you scrape it down to bare metal (I wouldn't worry about just minor scratches). As long as you have that dark gray or black oxide coating, you're good to go.
