I was asked by a friend to brew a batch of Oktoberfest for someone who bought the ingredient kit from Truebrew..... a year ago, and left it on the kitchen counter. I made a starter to make sure the yeast (packet of munton dry yeast) was still kickin', and everything seemed fine.

Four days in the primary and everything stopped. According to the trusty hydrometer we got a SG of 1.040, and now I'm stuck at 1.024 for a couple of days. According to the paperwork that came with the kit, it should finish up around 1.012.

Is it time to go pick up another dry yeast package and re-pitch?

PS - I get to keep half of the beer for my services;)

You can either give it a good swirl or pick up another dry yeast packet and you should be fine.
