I measured my starter SG using the leftovers in the boil kettle and it measured 14.2 Brix. This was when in an ice bath, so maybe at best it was a bit cold. I'm making a 2L starter and according to the calculator online, my SG is at 1.057. Should I add sanitized water to correct?

FYI, I'm boiling 3 cups water now and will measure and add accordingly... I have a 5 gallon bucket of starsan to sanitize while I go.

Let me know you thoughts asap! lol.

Yes, if this were mine, I guess I'd add enough distilled water until the SG was around 1.040.

.52 gallons (2,000ml) x 57 = 30 GU's
40 / 30 = .75 gallons (2,850ml)

So add 850ml of distilled (sanitized) water.

Ok, I added 3 cups of boiled/cooled water and it came down to ~10.6 Brix.

Phew. I feel better, lol.
