Anyone in the Boston, Cambridge MA area interested in a round beverage cooler for a mash tun? I might have some available for short $ after my project is finished. If you need, I can help you build it if you want to come over and provide the beer.

I went to pick them up and they were full of putrid, anaerobic compost.

Unless they are warped, cracked, or otherwise unable to hold liquid or temperature, they should work. The mash is preboil, so anything left after a vigorous cleaning and bleach bombing will die in the boil...
 
Yeah I realize that. I took the one that was only 1/4 full. I was on my bike and couldn't handle the other one.

It was amazingly gross though.
