Hey guys.
Wonding about tower cooling going from a single tower to larger dual tower. The current kegerator pass-through hole is 1 and 5/8 inch diameter. The dual faucet Micromatic tower I want to add is 3 inch diameter. Concern is the opening size and if it will be adquate to keep the 3 inch tower and beer lines cold enough to perserve the beer properly. The two lines will fit through the hole but there will not be much excess space. There currently is no fan inside the kegerator. It will be a pain to widen the hole.

:confused:Anyone upgraded a tower like this?
:confused:Did the smaller hole opening workout okay?

Thanks

I'd wire up a pc fan. Put it in a $3 electric box from home depot and run a 3/8 in vinyl hose into the tower.

If the tower is place away from the fridge you can wrap the beer lines and vinyl hose in insulation. It will help keep the lounges cool. It doesn't take much air flow to cool the tower

There are a few threads with this very topic here. If you don't want to go the fan route, make the hole bigger and install two 1/2 inch copper pipes. The pipes will extend into the fridge a couple of inches and go up the tower to just below the shanks. Then fill the tower around the copper with expanding foam. The copper will pull the cold all the way up the tower. Your beer lines will travel inside the copper to the shanks keeping the beer lines cold. Cheap and simple.
