Brand new barrel, french oak, med toast. Bottle of Makers Mark in barrel after initial conditioning. Aged one beer in it. After I was finished, I rinsed it out once and filled with water (as per the instructions) for storage. I noticed a bunch of white gunk inside after a few weeks. When I rinsed it out, it came out in pieces and some larger pieces stuck together. It looked like spoiled milk. Anyone have this experience? Know what it is? How to get rid of it?

Do you sanitize the barrel after you have crap like this in there? I was gonna get another bottle of the MMark to basically re-sanitize unless there's a better way.
Thanks for the help on this one.
Cheers.
