Okay, I have a few extra ingredients in my fridge that I was hoping to use up...so I thought I might brew up an IPA. Recipe for 5 gal extract with steeped grains.

Throw it in the pale ale

12 oz - Crystal 20L
8 oz - Crystal 60L
7 lbs - Extra Light DME

1 oz - Yakima Magnum @ 60
1/2 oz - Columbus @ 30
1 oz - Cascade @ 10
3/4 oz - Crystal @ 0
3/4 oz - Simcoe @ 0

And maybe an American or California ale yeast

What do you think...kinda a random assortment of hops. Any critiques/suggestions appreciated.

EDIT: I wound up using 1# C20L, 8oz C60L, 7# DME, and changed my hop bill as follows: 3/4oz Columbus @60, 1/4oz Columbus @30, and 1/2oz Crystal each @15, @10, @5, and @flameout (total Crystal 2 oz). Just racked to secondary yesterday (11/13) and was mighty tasty. The last time I used Columbus for bittering I went too low at 1/2 oz at 60 min; this time I decided to up it a bit...I'm anxious to see how it turns out!

Marc.

Personally, I like Simcoe more for bittering because I don't care for the way they smell. But, to each his own.
