I bought a 7 gallon fermenator tri clamp but kinda annoyed about the whole elbow issue. Even though it appears that the bottom opening was expanded since the directions were created (looked like previously the hole was smaller in the picture) and possibly the trub can be dumped easier now I am not a fan of all the extra pieces to be cleaned, assembled etc.
Has anyone just clamped on the valve itself and called it done? Thus eliminating the need for the elbow. Even though all the heavy stainless steel looks nice and obviously I paid for it, I like things simple and easy. Less connecting, less cleaning.
So has anyone just tried using the valve itself and nothing more?
