I had plans to brew tonight but my other bag is in the secondary dry hopping and I wanted to brew tonight.

Can I steep one half of the grain and let it rest when it's done, while I re use the bag with the other half of the grain and then dump it all in the boil?

thanks for the info

I guess you could do that. But it sounds like a big pain. Just go to a hardware store and get a paint strainer bag. If you can find the 5 gallon ones they will be able to hold all of it. They can be rinsed out and reused.

........do you have a colander big enough to hold the grain?

I would mash all of the grain loose, and then strain through the colander LINED WITH THE BAG YOU HAVE into another pot.

Sparge back and forth through the colander from pot to pot.

Just make sure to keep the wort hot!
