Every day above ground is a good day.

It is my philosophy that "Every day above ground is a good day." (Yeah, thats from Scarface) However some days are just better than others. Today is one of those days. It began with a drive to the bank to pick up a check for my (first) new car. I learn there that the interest rate is lower than they originally quoted me by .25%. Yay.

Then I take the check to the dealers and there are no troubles and the car looks better than when I looked at it on the lot a week ago. Yay. BTW, the car is an 07 MazdaSpeed 3. Absolute blast to drive.

I also went to the mall christmas shopping and bought the gf a nice leather coat (she has been hinting) and some cool gloves to go with it. I ate at a little Tuscan place actually in the mall, and the people were ever so friendly and pleasant.

I also bought the Sanyo 4912 or whatever at BestBuy to make a kegerator out of. It fit in my new car! It never would have fit in the BMW 323 I traded in.

Then gf calls asking if I got the new car and she is happy as can be and wants to go for a ride when she gets off work (5:30).
Then a buddy called me letting me know our compary is a member of some program whereby we get new Mazdas for invoice price. Now, that would have been nice to know yesterday, but at least I can try to get $2K back with a phone call.
Now I'm sipping on a DF120IPA as I do the rest of the xmas shopping online. Sipping is the operative word here. This friggin 8 dollar 12 oz beer is so much of everything it's unbelievable. I'd recommend it.

Maybe it's the christmas season, maybe it's something in the air. Whatever it is... it's there.

My day good also, shmbo has been reminding me since the start of last year that it is coming up to 10 years since we met. I remembered and got her a card and a pressie. She got me the best present ever - she forgot!!!

I managed to score enough brownie points to last the Christmas period. Must spend wisely.

That's awesome, dude! Life is G-U-D good, sometimes. Bet you can cut a bit of time off the drive the next time we have a Sunday morning get-together; that Mazda looks like a peppy little car (not that your Beemer was anything to sneeze at).

Well I've been fighting with the door to our oven all day. I got to drive my crappy 1993 Ford Escort junk heap that doesn't have a working radio all over the place looking for parts. Then I got to try and figure out how the door went back together.
After that I got to drive my son to the DMV in my crappy 1993 Ford Escort so he could get is learner's permit. It took us over an hour.
But all said and done I am still above ground and the home brew I just drank was outstanding. Everything is good.

I hear ya. My heater is jammed on in my ute (came off). Plus the radio only works when the handbrake is on (electrical problem). I still love it though

Remember that email that was going around a few weeks ago about the 100 people? The one about how so many have so little... Looking at things like that really makes you appreciate how well we all have it. I mean we have extra money for hobbies, a computer (or at least access to one), and an education (you're typing on here, are you not?). Those lucky enough to have a 16 year old to drive to get their learners permit in a crappy 93 escort are far better off that a vast majority of the population.

I feel like I'm preaching to the choir as homebrewers seem to share this philosophy (or at least should), so I'll stop.

ChillHayze, I completely agree. We are so very blessed. It is amazing how comfortably we live compared to many of our ancestors who slept in sod houses. America has many faults, but when the biggest health issue among our poor is obesity, we must be doing something right.

You know, reading the title of this thread... I was really freaked out and expecting another "Walker Incident"... glad that wasn't the case!

Yep, congrats Chilly. Kind of a coincidence on the car thing. I just bought and picked up the Mazda 3 touring S flavor yesterday as well. Traded in my 02 Jetta turbo. Going to miss the speed of the jetta but didn't really want the hatchback version. Kind of suprised they don't offer the turbo in the sedan.

What's even a better thing is the trans was going out on the Jetta but the dealer doesn't know it yet. That was a $5k fix at the dealer or $3k at a transmission shop. I friggen loved sticking them with that little surprise after they dig deeper into it! I've never traded in a car before but couldn't be the d!ck who sold that on the private market.

When I traded in my Protege, it needed a couple grand in repairs. The check engine light had come on, and they found lots and lots and lots of little problems. Some dude at the dealership that had done all the work showed me how to reset the check engine light, so that I could trade it in without the light on. It kept clicking back on - I kept resetting it (think that was just a problem with the catalytic converter, but there were lots of other issues). The new dealership looked the car over pretty thoroughly, but didn't come back at me with any problems.

desertBrew, Is the Mazda 3 touring S the NA 2.3l? That's good motor even w/o the little turbo on the backside. My MS3 has way more pull than the new gti though it is a little harsher in ride/power delivery. Soon will be the intake, catback, BOV, and boost gauge (none from stock, wth??). Well, as funds permit, of course. I've got a kegerator to build, too. Good thing some OT is coming my way @work.
