Well, it's coming closer and closer to my summer vacation which means I need to know exactly what I want to order, while on vacation, so that it arrives shortly after I return. I'm looking at doing full boil, steep grains and starting with a Weizen and IPA (Two-Hearted Clone) although Edworts Haus Pale also looks yummy. Thoughts on my final recipes as I close in to ordering my supplies?
Weizen: I want this to turn out with a real full body yet smooth and without too much banana flavor or nose. Although I would like to encourage a bit of spicy clove aroma. I've even played with the idea of tossing a pinch of clove in at flame out, but am not sure yet.
Ingredients
6.00 lb Wheat Liquid Extract (8.0 SRM) Extract 66.7 %
1.00 lb Wheat Malt, Ger (2.0 SRM) Grain 11.1 %
1.00 lb Wheat, Flaked (1.6 SRM) Grain 11.1 %
0.50 lb Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM) Grain 5.6 %
0.50 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 10L (10.0 SRM) Grain 5.6 %
0.75 oz Hallertauer [6.00%] (45 min) Hops 14.3 IBU (Slightly less on this possibly like .65 oz)
0.25 oz Hallertauer [6.00%] (5 min) Hops 1.0 IBU (Might skip this aroma addition. How much would this ammount have on the actual nose of the beer? Would it be overpowering or just a slight spicy aroma?)
1 Pkgs American Hefeweizen Ale (White Labs #WLP320) Yeast-Wheat
Beer Profile
Est Original Gravity: 1.059 SG
Est Final Gravity: 1.016 SG
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 5.7 %

IPA (Two Hearted-esque): The IBU on this could be stepped up a bit I think, but I'm still a bit in stasis for how hoppy I want the final product to be. The other option is to follow EdWort's Haus Pale recipe. It looks mighty tasty. Anyone have thoughts on the comparison of these two different Pales?
