This community is still pretty small but the overall attitude I think is great despite a few flair ups. Discussions the majority of the time can be had even when there are very opposing views with maturity and it doesn't resort to off-topic name calling and private harassments like other communities. Very cool!

Your observations Tx, are one of the main reasons I'm here to stay. I've participated in a few other brewing forums and completely lost interest; because none of them seemed as communal as HBT. A lot of credit does also go to you and your well chosen moderators, who keep a fair and open mind, and seem to know just the right time to step in. Of course not to forget that HBT ROCKS!

I agree that most people here mostly exhibit a convivial, friendly, and relaxed attitude most of the time. :mug:

Why do you think it took so long to allow you to have EAC status? You gotta have some big ones to be an EAC. That whole shrinkage think had to be referred to committee

Anyway, Tx is right. I love this place- not just for the beer info (which is second to none!) but for the whole community. We have different opinions and that's what makes it so interesting for me. I love talking about brewing here, but I also love the good natured teasing and jokes. I love the fact that when one of us has to dump a brew, we all promise to don black armbands and mourn the loss. I like it when I post a recipe that isn't what I'm looking for, you guys say so.

This forum is a great place!

I'm excited to be apart of this place, the people are great and very helpful. I've only seen one thread full of angst (the infamous EAC thread), but even when they were being railed against, the people kept their cool.

I look forward to being able to contribute something meaningful, AND DRINK A SH*TSTACK OF BEER. :)

Yup, everyone's cool here. Except me. I'm a dick.:mug:

Ba$tard. ;) :D

I can't tell you how much I think of this place and everyone here. I'm coming up on a year (be watching for that renewal Tx) and from a sheer brewing standpoint, I learn something new every single day. No joke. And that's from everyone.

As for the community as a whole, I've checked out many of the others and IMHO none of them even come close to this one. Even when things get a bit tense everyone handles themselves and gives an immense amout of respect to the others and that's something you don't simply find a whole lot these days. And I think that's something we can all be proud of.

I will take one issue with Tx on something. His original post called this a "small" community. I compared our stats to the Greenboards' as of this post...

T'ain't so small baby!

I've got nothing but unconditional praise for this board. I feel that between directly learning from members, and being pointed in the right direction by members ideas I have made more of an improvement in by brewing in 4 months than I have in 3 years. Cheers, TX, and cheers, fellow HBT'rs. :mug:

I've got to second this. I love this place.

Tx, you do such an awesome job--I frewquent the green board quite a bit--until lately. The constant slowness of the server and the 2-3 day crashes are really getting old. Plus most of the knowledgeable brewers don't post anymore. I went there for stout advice and you don't get much anymore.

I've noticed here we are really getting a knowledgeable group. And I cherish the friendships I've gained here.

I'd give you a big hug but you hate Brett Favre. :p

Hey, at least Brett Favre doesn't go around knocking up rich actresses while dating hot models and wearing berets while looking at art in Paris. (The city, not the slut) :D

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Cherish?

You must be getting loaded. :mug:

This is a great board. People are very nice and the collective knowledge is fabulous for those who know almost nothing of home brewing and want to learn.

My vote for best part about the board is the smartassedness, though. ;)

Ain't that the truth (on both counts). This board is really rock solid and fast for me. When it got fartsmiltered at work I was upset and started using the greenboard since it wasn't filtered. They've got their thing going on, and there's nothing wrong with it, but like you say half the time it didn't even work and eventually it wasn't even worth the trouble. I'm pretty torn up I can't spend more than an hour or so a day here anymore :(

I love this place aswell :D Even if you are all the way accross the pond, and half the time I dont know wtf your all talking about, except when you say the words "beer" and "drink lots of". But other then that, I have uped my math skills by constantly converting pounds to kilos, gallons to litres, shrunk penis' to EAC membership status.... all sorts of odd measurments... :)

:mug:

I come for the porn actually. ;)

In all seriousness this place has been awesome for a newby to learn some tips and tricks that aren't in the books.

And I've learned not to worry if after pitching my yeast and 10 minutes go by that nothing has happened. RDWHAHB is my new mantra!
