My husband's favorite beer of all time is Sprecher's Mai Bock. I haven't made a lager before, but I might be able to do it if I started in the fall and used the basement and/or garage during the colder temperatures.

Does anyone have an easy (extract and grains) recipe, or an idea how to do it? My personal favorite beer is Capital Brewery's Blonde Dopplebock. I would LOVE to learn to make those beers!

The Kaiser is probably the best authority on those styles (but he's in the process of moving at the moment). I've tried all of those styles from his brewery and they were without exception excellent.

However, he brews them in the traditional German manner which is to say complicated! But I'm sure he could help out with a straightforward version of a malty German lager.
