I just started my first batch about a week ago. I have been reading a lot of post on the this forum and have been learning a lot. I am using a coopers wheat extract kit. After I poured the wort into the carboy I waited for it to cool for about 2 hours before pitching the yeast. From what I have read you are suposed to cool the wort as soon as possible, correct? Is this going to affect my beer? Also what is the reason for cooling right away? Thanks for the help.

Yes - it will effect your beer but it will not make it undrinkable - trust me - I know.

I would explain but I have had to many home brews at the moment. The one I'm drinking now (Porter-Lite) took a couple hours to cool before I learned HOW to cool it in 14 minutes. (lots of ice).

No worries! I'll let a sober person explain.
