BEER HOPTACULAR CELEBRATES THE ART OF BEER
Craft beer tastings, home-brewer demonstrations, artisanal foodstuffs, local crafters and live music converge at the historic Aragon Ballroom, June 4 and 5.

CHICAGO (April 2, 2010) — Beer Hoptacular, a new event for all true beer enthusiasts, kicks off its first year with beer samplings, demonstrations and fun from craft brewers, beer experts, home brewers, and local artisans. Attendees will enjoy a select variety of more than two hundred small-batch beers, the best of the best from across the Midwest, other regions in the U.S. and abroad. Those in attendance can interact with the brewers themselves and cast their vote to select the “Beer Hoptacular Beer of the Year.” Scheduled for June 4 and 5 at Uptown’s Aragon Ballroom, Beer Hoptacular will serve as a gathering place and educational opportunity for a growing number of beer appreciators who see the fermented beverage less as a route to intoxication and more as a timeless artisanal pursuit to be appreciated.

“The American palate is expanding, and beer fans are learning that a world of incredibly diverse, flavorful, and character-rich beers exists, created by small entrepreneurs with fantastic skills. These artisans prefer to apply their ingenuity towards their beer-making craft rather than their marketing campaigns,” said Jim Powers, co-founder of Beer Hoptacular. “We wanted to create an event that would allow people to sample their amazing beers and enjoy the creativity of what these folks are doing, in a way that was low-key and fun, but still really informative. Perhaps even inspiring.”

Donna Sue Van Cleaf-Fish, President of Jam Special Events, which is co-producing Beer Hoptacular, adds, “Craft beers have exploded in number – there are more than 300 breweries in the Midwest alone – and interest in home-brewing is growing. These brewers are true craftsman, dedicated to their art and Beer Hoptacular is going to help introduce them to people who can really appreciate their work. Some may even want to give it a try themselves by home-brewing. They can learn how at Beer Hoptacular.”
In addition to beer tastings, Beer Hoptacular will also feature foodstuffs from local artisans, live music and wares from area crafters. Popular beer journalists and bloggers will be on-hand for panel discussions and question-and-answer, as will top local beer authorities from the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild, an organization representing the finest brewers in the state.

Beer Hoptacular will be held at the Aragon Ballroom at 1106 W. Lawrence Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. There will be three sessions: Friday, June 4 from 7:00-11:00 PM and Saturday, June 5 from 1:00-5:00 PM and 6:30-10:30 PM. Admission is, per session, $45 in advance, $55 day of. Beer Hoptacular is for ages 21 and over. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit www.BeerHoptacular.com.
