I think my next DIY homebrew project will be a cooler based mash tun. What are the pros and cons of choosing one over the other?

I had a round one.

Now I use this rectangular Coleman xtreme.

I switched to batch sparging when I made the bigger MLT. I like it much more.

It depends on how you plan to sparge. For a fly sparge the taller narrow (round) make more sense. For a batch sparge it really doesn't matter but the rectangles are cheaper and come in larger sizes.

Conroe, what kind of braid do you use in that xtreme? I like the rigidity and what seems to be an end cap.

Thanks.
