Hi there !

I'm going to brew a new Batch using DME and I'm going to do the late Extract addition Method .

I've heard also that the Hop bitterness should be adjusted .

I took a look at "Beersmith" and that seemed a little complicated to me , as I've never used this Program before .

It would be very nice if someone who is familiar with this Program would tell me the adjusted amount of bittering Hops .

Batch Volume : 1.06 Gallons

O.G. : 1.050

Amount of DME : 1.26 lb ( to be added at 15 Min. )

Bittering Hops ( 10% AA ) : 0.17 Oz. ( to be added at 60 Min. )

Desired IBUs : 25

Thanks in Advance ,

Hector

You are pretty close. Don't worry about hop utilization with late addition extract. There is way too much conflicting evidence and the argument is over minuscule amounts of bitterness change. Just calculate as usual assuming that the extract was added at the beginning of the boil. Particulary with that tiny batch, the hop utilization difference would be imperceptible.

Are you going to be just boiling the hops for 45 minutes in just water?

I read a bit more about it and have made a new Decision .

I would add 30% of the Malt first and the Rest for the last 15 Minutes and boil the bittering Hops for 60 Minutes .
