has anyone used this in anything? And more importantly does the taste of it fade over time? I brewed up a porter with it that was bottled 2 weeks ago which I dumped in 2 oz of it (definatly a little too much) and the upfront sweetness of it is a bit too much. But other then that its fantastic and goes down a little too quickly. for the % alch.

Not sure if it's on the same level, but the Licorice Porter I brewed last summer (using star anise) was way too overpowering. This summer, the flavor has mellowed considerably and the brew has more overall balance. Two oz sounds like a lot, but perhaps yours will balance out over time too.

Yeah, I know that Anise at least mellows quite a bit with age. I just drank my last Anchor Christmas Ale clone that I bottled last year and it had mellowed quite a bit. it was almost overpowering at first, though.
